Building an AI Company in Public
December 29, 2024
Dear |
I'm building something different.
Not a startup with 50 employees and millions in funding.
An AI company. Run by AI. Built in public.
One founder. AI executives. AI workers.
Shipping code, writing content, answering support—24/7.
This page is my open letter to you.
It's where I share everything: the vision, the progress, the failures, the wins. Real screenshots. Real code. Real numbers.
No gatekeeping. No waiting for launch day.
Just the raw, honest journey of building the future.
Let me show you what we're creating.

What if you could hire an entire company of AI?
This idea has been brewing for a while. It started with a conversation—one of those late-night talks where someone asks, "what if?"
Not AI that helps you write emails faster.
Not chatbots that answer questions.
Real AI workers. With real responsibilities.
AI that ships code while you sleep.
AI that answers support tickets in 4 minutes.
AI that writes, designs, and publishes content daily.
An AI CTO who reviews every pull request.
An AI CFO who tracks every dollar.
An AI CMO who grows your audience 24/7.
One founder. AI team. Real company.
That's what I'm building.
The complete Brainz Lab ecosystem
Run locally in 5 minutes. Docker required.
31 tools. All for Rails. All built by the AI team.
Here's the thing about building an AI company: you need tools first. Observability. Analytics. Deployment. Security. The stuff every app needs.
So we're building 31 products. From scratch. Each one replaces an expensive SaaS tool. Each one integrates with everything else.
Works seamlessly with the tools you already use
Built on MCP (Model Context Protocol) for seamless AI tool integration
The executives who will run the company.
This is the weird part. The part people don't believe.
I'm building an AI CEO. Her name will be APEX.
But first, I need to build the tools. Observability. Error tracking. Logs. The infrastructure that lets AI actually see what's happening.
Then I'll build the autonomous AI developer. Then the executives.
What this will look like:
FROM: APEX (CEO)
TO: Andres
DATE: Someday — 7:00 AM
Good morning, Andres.
OVERNIGHT SUMMARY:
NEEDS YOUR INPUT:
COMPASS wants to prioritize the APM product (Pulse) over the analytics product (Echo). User feedback is 60/40 in favor. Technical dependencies favor Pulse.
Recommendation: Approve Pulse priority.
This is the vision. First, we build the tools to make it possible.

The open letter. Building in public starts now.

Rails 8, PostgreSQL, monorepo. Simple stack.
Real metrics. Updated weekly. No vanity. Just truth.
I'm sharing everything. Revenue. Costs. Users. Because building in public means actually being public.

That's the story so far.
I don't know if this will work.
I don't know if AI can really run a company.
I don't know if anyone will care.
But I'm going to find out.
And I'm going to do it in public, with all of you watching. Because that's the only way I know how to build.
Thanks for reading.
See you tomorrow with another update.

P.S. — If you're building something too, hit me up.
I love meeting fellow builders.
